Happy Moon Festival 2021
The Moon Festival, also known as The Mid-Autumn Festival, is a traditional Chinese festival celebrated by many East and Southeast Asian countries and regions. It is the second most important holiday after Chinese New Year with a history dating back over 3,000 years when Chinese worshipped the moon for family reunion and bountiful harvests.
The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of Chinese lunisolar calendar with a full moon at night, corresponding to mid-September to early October of the Gregorian calendar. On this day, Chinese believe that the moon is at its brightest and fullest size, coinciding with Chinese ideal life of happy family reunion and good harvest.
Lanterns are displayed, the symbolic beacons that light people's path to prosperity and good fortune. Mooncakes, a rich pastry typically filled with sweet-bean, egg yolk, meat or lotus-seed paste, are traditionally served during this festival. The Moon Festival is celebrated for the legend of Chang'e, the moon goddess in Chinese mythology.
It is the date for family gathering, thanksgiving and praying for health, beauty, harmony, prosperity and longevity together.
